Fernanda F. Fernandez Jankov

Fernanda F. Fernandez Jankov is a professor, researcher and lawyer working in the fields of Public Law, governance, regulation, jurisdiction, sovereignty, digital platforms and institutional transformation.
Her career combines Brazilian legal training, international academic experience and transnational professional practice. She is Founder and Academic Director of the Institute for Applied Governance — IGA, an initiative dedicated to applied research, executive education and institutional dialogue on the contemporary challenges of public and private governance.
With more than three decades of experience in law and academia, her work brings together legal research, international cooperation, professional practice and institutional reflection on the new modes of exercising public authority in complex societies.
Academic Background
- Law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of São Paulo;
- Master's in Latin American Integration from the University of São Paulo;
- Doctorate in Law from the Federal University of Paraná;
- Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), Nottingham Trent University;
- Post-doctorate from the Faculty of Law of the University of São Paulo (FDUSP).

Academic and Institutional Work
Fernanda has carried out academic and institutional activities in different countries, with particular attention to international law, comparative public law, European integration, jurisdiction, regulatory governance and the contemporary transformations of legal systems.
She has served as a professor in the Master's Programme in Constitutional Jurisdiction and Democracy at the University of Passo Fundo and as a visiting professor in the Master's in European Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade, under the European Union's Tempus Programme. Her international experience includes research and academic cooperation in Cambridge, London, Belgrade and São Paulo.
She participates in the International Society of Public Law — ICON-S, taking part in international debates on public law, jurisdiction, institutional authority, digital governance and the contemporary transformations of constitutionalism. In Brazil, she serves on the Board of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Law of the University of São Paulo.
Works and Intellectual Production
She is the author of Direito Internacional Penal (International Criminal Law), published by Editora Saraiva, devoted to the foundations, structures and enforcement mechanisms of international criminal law.
Her recent academic production develops an agenda focused on jurisdiction, public authority, digital governance, transnational regulatory systems, institutional integrity and the new challenges of judicial decision-making in complex societies. Among her current themes is universal jurisdiction, which guides her editorial project in development, Universal Jurisdiction: Foundations and Contemporary Transformations.
